Sushi

Posted by Sahara on Friday, May 16, 2014, In : Food

To celebrate a completely insignificant Thursday night, we decided to make sushi. Hence our long and tedious to the fish store, where we were subject to lots of fishing stories and tips from the fish manager. He was quite nice, however, and gave us 2lb of tuna, swordfish, and some shrimp.

The sword and the shrimp we ended up putting away for another day, and the tuna we also cut up and parted. Most of it was left raw, some was pan seared, and the rest was also put in the fridge. Believe it or...

Pina-coladas and Christmas

Posted by Devon on Monday, December 30, 2013, In : Food

December 25 and 26th

A couple days ago at a grocery store we got a lot of pina-colada and margarita mixes which were normal, strawberry, lime, mango, and orange drinks. My favorite was the strawberry margarita because I like the strawberry flavor and I don’t know why. We had pina-coladas nearly 3 times every day because they were so good, I even think that we should have got more for that same reason.

For Christmas we first had our presents opened and we got some pretty nice stuff, includin...

Cheese Burgers, Pina Coladas, and Ice Storms

Posted by Bryan, Sahara, and Devon on Monday, December 23, 2013, In : Food
There has been a terrible ice storm in the Toronto area (our home) the last few days.   Aver 2 inches of freezing rain, plus a few inches of ice pellets, snow, and other yucky stuff.  So we felt bad for the people stuck back home.  So to get an idea of the terrible icy conditions and slushy mix of stuff that would be on the road we:

SHRIMPIES!!!!!

Posted by Bryan on Thursday, November 21, 2013, In : Food
Nov 18
We finally caught some shrimp.  Maybe enough for a tiny cocktail.....with little shrimp.  BUT WE CAUGHT SHRIMP !!

And a bunch of other fish as well.  Devon and I rowed up a little creek, battling the bugs and mud, and using a throw net caught some shrimp.  There were thousands of tiny shrimp that went right through the net, but a few bigger ones.  We also caught a big Stripped mullet.  We were as surprised to catch it as well as it was to be caught (we let it go later).  We also nabbed a...

Lehman Yogurt

Posted by Bryan on Friday, September 27, 2013, In : Food
We made our first batch of yogurt with the heat of the engine (the Ford Lehman).  We heated up the milk and added our ingredients.  Then set it by the engine after a day of travel.  It kept the yogurt between 110 and 115 degrees.  The yogurt came out great.  Goes great with some frozen blueberries.

Then we add it to a smoothy.
